May was quite crazy and lived up to its Maycember moniker. We ended May with our Stake Conference.
We moved on Memorial Day. Seth discovered his company had a great floorplan that would fit on our lot. We had drawn up plans twice for big remodels...and after lots of back and forth we decided we would just tear our current house down to make way for a new house. Once we made the decision things started to move very quickly. We spent a lot of May preparing for our move. We had our tenants move out of our rental property They moved out at the beginning of May but didn't do a good job of cleaning...so we spent hours getting the townhome move-in ready. Below is a picture of us moved in enjoying pizza in the new place. We had the idea to try a different pizza place every week this summer so this week we tried Dominos. Phin loved their bread bites. We may look a little further apart now...we have room to add the second leaf into our table.
In conjunction with Stake Conference we had a big block party at the ball field. The kids loved playing this turtle racing game.
Silas even had the balloon artist make him a turtle balloon.
We met friends at the new Farmington park and the kids enjoyed the splash pad.
Silas has been begging to try dragon fruit...so we gave it a try. It didn't have a distinct flavor so I don't know if I chose a good one or not.
We took some ice cream cones on a walk to explore the new neighborhood.
Millie helped make waffles for one of our first summer lunches in the townhouse.
Lou helped Seth put together a TV stand.
We also celebrated our first morning in the townhouse with doughnuts.
We are so grateful for all the help we had with the move. It was a little chaotic to move some things to storage and somethings to our townhouse. Someone related it to cooperative Tetris...and man this group did a great job.
Lou was fascinated with the moving truck.
Silas loved riding next to Seth as we made a few last minute trips with the moving truck.
While we took a load to the townhouse all of the cousins kept entertained on our swings and hanging out on one of the mattresses we were moving.
The last two nights in our house, Phin and Silas slept on their mattresses in the living room. We rented Mario Galaxy and had Chinese food.
Lou can often be found dressed up as Elsa looking in her jewelry box. She likes to look to see "how pretty" she is. We let all of the kids bring a few toys to the townhouse and her Elsa costume and jewelry box were at the top of her keep list.
We celebrated the last day of school with ice cream at our favorite local shop.
Phin's actual last day of school was Thursday. How can he already be this old.
Typing this I realized that I never got pictures of Millie and Silas with their teachers. They were so blessed to have some of my very favorite teachers this year. I loved volunteering in Silas class twice a week.
Lou's last day of school was a whole week before the other kids. She was so sad that school was over but loved spending some special time with Nona and Papa.
Silas loved his 2nd grade memory book.
Phin got tickets to the carnival at school based on his grades...let's just say he had lots of tickets.
Lou has been obsessed with the ruby red glittery high heels that once belonged to Millie. She has insisted on wearing them even though they are a little big...which meant that I also had to give her a shoulder ride when we were out running errands.
She loved her last day of school and came home with a bag full of carnival toys, Elsa face paint and a pretty awesome memory book of this year. They also had a pajama day and a water day during the last week.
Silas participated in the 2nd grade wax museum in May. We had read several biographies about Milton Hershey so he dressed up like Milton, gave his prepared oral report and handed out some Hershey kisses after ending his report saying "Would you like a kiss?"
Seth and I learned how to play Mahjong at an after hours event at his work. I won't lie...I am still so confused...but I'm glad he got the W.
I also attended a lecture at BYU on Executive Functioning. During the lunch break I walked down to the Museum of Art to see the Gilded Paradise exhibit. It always brings back so many memories to be on campus. This trip also brought back some fun memories of Florence Italy.
Millie performed in the 4th Grade Program which is all about the settlement of Utah. She had created a little book and had a drawing of our family on our recent California trip.
She was dressed as a pioneer during the program.
On Mother's Day I made a delicious cake. This was Cake by Courtney's Tom Cruise Cake but as a layered cake instead of a Bundt.
I also managed to snag a photo with my kiddos after church.
Lou performed at the Preschool graduation program. She sang several songs but the Watermelon song had to be my favorite.
She also sang a cute song called BEEP BEEP and honked a little pretend steering wheel horn.
Silas had his Let's Play Music 3rd Year Recital.
He played his own composition "Mansion Mayhem III."
After teaching my sourdough class in April, I sent Phin to school with 10 loaves for his teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. He got so many compliments and inquires about if I sold my bread. I have no interest in turning my little hobby into a business but I told him he could consider creating a side hustle. So I taught him and he made his first loaf. He thinks there are too many steps to sourdough...and is still trying to convince me to help him with his hustle.
