Halloween Week

 I was listening to a podcast the other day about how we teach our children certain emotion words and one of those words is excitement.  I am pretty sure that Phin, Millie and Silas learned all about excitement the week of Halloween.  We had so much fun dressing up and getting out of the house.  Our first event of the week was the Davis County Sheriff's office trunk-or-treat.

We had our photo taken with some of the Circus characters.

Then the kids got to play a couple of carnival games.

This one was so funny...they put a ball between their legs and walked on the line.  Millie dropped her ball part way through and didn't even realize it...she just kept waddling around.

We also went to The Legacy House for their Trick-or-treating event.  There were more carnival games.

Our local youth council puts on a little Pumpkin Patch event that the kids love.  They got their faces painted...

went fishing...

rolled pumpkins down a hill...

threw bean bags...

and got pulled around in a wagon by some random Puff Marshmallow man.

Nona had all the cousins dress up for Sunday dinner.  It was fun to get a picture of them together in the same spot where I had all of my Halloween pictures taken growing up. 

This year we didn't carve real pumpkins.  I found these Styrofoam pumpkins and Phin went to town on them.

We went a Pumpkin Walk the Monday before Halloween.  Millie loved the Mermaid pumpkin...

and this little coach pumpkin.

and this pirate pumpkin.

We also went to a Trunk-Or-Treat at a local High School.

The kids loved this T-Rex costume...although Phin was the only one brave enough to get close for the picture.

Phin participated in his first Halloween Parade at school.  One perk of having him come to my school is that I get to see all of these fun events taking place.

We also went Trick-Or-Treating at our local grocery store.

Then we met up with Tawnya, Jameson and Lila at Seth's work. 

Seth got off early so we headed to a local shopping center for their trick-or-treating.  The kids got little gummy pizzas at our favorite pizza spot.

These next two pictures just melt my heart...I am so grateful that Seth is a good sport and willing to dress up.  It really makes the whole experience magical for our kids.

The kids got comic books at the Comic Book Store they trick-or-treated at.

Before heading out to trick-or-treat on our own street we played in the leaves.

Seth raked our leaves into a huge pile and then let the kids swing into them.

  

We took the wagon up and down our street...and Millie was done by the time we got back to our house. 

I put her to bed early while Seth, Phin, Tawnya, Jami, Jameson and Lila hit a few more houses. We had an awesome Halloween and have already been talking about our costumes for next year.

7 MONTHS

Our sweet Silas hit 7 months the week before Halloween.  He is still wearing 6 month clothing and size 2 diapers.

He loves rice or oatmeal cereal mixed with breast milk...and refuses to eat anything else at daycare.

He is sitting up like a champ...but continues to hate tummy time.  We think it has something to do with the small hernia that he has near his belly button.

This month he taught himself how to clap.

I took him up to the Relief Society retreat one Friday evening at the end of September...he stayed warm and cozy in the Patagonia suit I found at a yard sale this summer.

He loved his first ride on the carousel at Lagoon.

With that being said...he explores the world through his mouth...yuck.

He loves to take naps on people...here he is napping with Papa in St. George.

Cousin Aaron always loves to hold Silas.

Silas LOVES the water.

 

We started using a floatie with him this month and he loves the freedom it gives him...and the toys that are attached to it as well.

He took his first ride in the shopping cart...which delighted his siblings.

He experienced his first costume.  He was an Alligator/Crocodile just like Phin.  The top picture is Phin the bottom is Silas.

 

He is never quite where I left him these days.

He enjoyed his first trip to St. George.

He has the cutest little feet.

He also likes to stick out his tongue...but just a little.

He loves his siblings and they have been great helpers with him.  Phin saw several photos of our family before Silas was born this month and was so sad that Silas was not in the pictures.

Phin update:  He is loving Kindergarten.  He spends time in my room before and after school and has learned to keep himself entertained so I can get my work done.  He took his first field trip to the Aquarium this month.  Whenever we ask him about his day he says: "I'm not going to tell ya."  He had his first lock-down drill this month...which really just about broke my Mama heart.  I was pregnant with him when Sandy Hook occurred and it is so sad to know that this is the world where he is growing up.  He loves his Let's Play Music Classes and it has been so nice to have a little Mommy and Phin date every couple of weeks. 

Millie update:  We love our sweet Unicorn/Mermaid/Minnie Mouse loving girl.  Millie is our least picky eater.  She is willing to try just about anything.  She can often be found picking spinach or apples or other healthy food out of my salad.  She is an early riser and is usually the first kiddo up in the morning.  She loves PJ Masks and when she gets to choose a show she almost always chooses that one.  She also loves playing with her dolls and we love hearing her high pitched voice when she does.  When she wants your attention she will reach up and grab our chins and move our faces so we are looking at her. She loves to be read to and her favorite book is Nibbles the Book Monster...she can quote several parts of the book.
