Phin is now 11 months old...wow...it feels like someone has hit the fast forward button on our life and we often find myself wishing that they would hit the pause button instead.
Phin's growth has finally slowed down a bit. He still weighs around 24 pounds and is about 30 inches long. We stood him up to measure him this month...it seemed much easier than wrangling him down with a tape measure in hand. He is wearing mostly 18 month clothing and continues to be in size 4 diapers. We have pulled out his summer clothes and love seeing his chubby legs in shorts and rompers.
He continues to army crawl everywhere he needs to go and is getting to be quite fast. He has also perfected pulling himself up. He even learned how to open the fridge this month...yes we are in serious trouble. He loves to empty things...laundry baskets, drawers, toy boxes, etc. One night I was cleaning the fridge and he quickly crawled over, pulled himself up and started emptying food items. He was a distraught when I was finished and closed the fridge.
He has become so mobile that getting him to lie down on his back for these pictures was nearly impossible...it took both parents, some string and a few toys.
He has learned to clap this month when we say patty-cake, he nods his head for yes, and with great prompting he holds up his index finger when we ask how old he will be. He is starting to give high fives and giggles when we give them to him. He is starting to imitate animal noises and says something similar to "duck" or "quack" when he is playing with his rubber ducky in the tub. He says "mama" and "dada" and "nana." I love listening to him alternate his babbling between all the consonants that are currently in his repertoire.
Jordan and Abby passed down a Radio Flyer trike and Phin loves it. He has learned how to push himself forward and backward...often times he scoots his little bum right off the trike. His favorite part of the trike by far is the tassels.
Phin is quite active these days and really only holds still when he is eating or sleeping. Papa loves when their naps coincide.
Seth loves it too...
Phin tasted his first french fry this month. He is starting to go through baby food a little more quickly and his favorite food continues to be mango followed closely by pears. He has also started to like the baby puffs and can even get them up to his mouth on his own.
We have been spending quite a bit of time outside with the warmer weather and Phin loves to explore in the grass. He is a typical boy and finds twigs, leaves and little treasures to bring back inside.
Phin has discovered the vertical blinds this month...as a result we almost always have the blinds pulled all the way open when he is roaming.
Phin got a sailboat for Easter and consistently sinks it every bath.
He loves to ride on his Daddy's shoulders and surprisingly doesn't pull on Seth's hair. We had a regional conference at the Conference Center in Salt Lake and he rode on Seth's shoulders for over three blocks.
He is very observant and will often stop whatever he is doing to listen to something outside our windows or to watch the neighbor girl play in the yard.
The picture below just melts my heart...the overalls...the hands crossed...the blue eyes...and the reddish hair. We are so blessed to have Phin in our family.
