Then we headed to the Hot Games area and learned Spirit Island.
We each played in the 7 Wonders tournament next.
Then we played a few games from the Play to Win area.
We also played in a Splendor tournament...and learned that we play this game very differently than others. Seth managed to make it to the second round.
We also played a quick game of Karuba card game from the Play to Win games.
On Friday we were able to play the game that was the most anticipated game of the convention...Azul. This game was printed in October 2017 and the first printing had already sold out. Hands down it was my favorite game of the convention. We found out it was going to printed again later in March.
We also played in a Settlers of Catan tournament...Seth got to the second round.
Saturday morning we had an Envoy volunteer teach us how to play Palace of Mad King Ludwig.
We convinced Jami to come and play during the day on Saturday with us. We played Five Seals of Magic in the exhibitor hall.
Then we played in an Ice Cool tournament. Ice Cool is a penguin themed dexterity game.
Seth ended up getting to the final round...which meant he got a free copy of the game. This one has quickly become a favorite with our kids.
After our tournament we learned how to play Sagrada which was another Hot Game.
We also enjoyed Century Spice Road.
We both lucked out and won a couple of games from the Play to Win area...I won Snowball Fight which our kids LOVE.
Seth won Kaiju Crush.
This was our haul form the convention...all for free. We ended up buying Azul and Sagrada after the convention. We have played Azul several times...but still need to get to Sagrada.
On Sunday we drove up to Cache Valley to pick up Phin and Millie. Grandma Jo and Grandad watched them while we were at the convention. Phin got a balloon from primary and they both proceeded to pretend to be pregnant like Mom.
We stopped back at the convention on the way home to play a few kid games with Phin and Millie.
The first week of March was actually the best of my entire pregnancy...yes I got one good week at 36 weeks. I spent a lot of time getting some freezer meals ready. I went to a Citrus Pear meal prep night at our local Lee's one night. I walked away with 20 freezer meals that would help us once the baby arrived. I loved going for just a couple of hours, walking away with a freezer full of meals...and not having to clean up a mess. They have several locations in Utah and Idaho...so if you get a chance check them out.
March also meant trips to the grocery store for ice cream.
Millie is a huge fan of stuffed animals...she also loves to wander around in my shoes.
March also meant weekly non stress tests...thank you advanced maternal age. The technicians had a little buzzer they would use to wake up the baby. During one test they used the buzzer and I had a huge contraction...I am sure it was like a fire alarm and the baby was looking for a way out.
By 38 weeks I had everything wrapped up at work and was very anxious for our baby to arrive. Sarah was in town and was sweet enough to watch Phin and Millie while Seth and I went to Cafe Trio for some "labor inducing pizza." Sadly no labor was induced. At my appointment the day after the pizza the baby was so high that the Dr. couldn't even strip my membranes. I cried all the way home...
then I went to the gym and walked and walked...and bounced on a ball.
Our YM/YW had a Fundraiser Spaghetti dinner. Phin got up to sing Karoke and sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to a Cultural Hall full of people. We came with two crazy cakes from the cake auction.
The next day I walked again...and bounced again...cleaned the house...did laundry...vacuumed the car...etc...still no baby. I joked with Seth that I have always been in labor on Sunday and that our kids are Sabbath breakers. I said a prayer on Saturday night that this baby would be a Sabbath breaker like his siblings...and on Sunday my prayer was answered and our baby finally came...more details on his arrival in the next post.
