2 YEARS OLD

Phin turned 2 at the beginning of June.  He epitomized the definition of terrible twos at his two year check up.  The nurse tried to lay him down to weigh and measure him and he flipped out.  According to our very difficultly gathered and probably inaccurate stats, Phin weighs about 32 pounds which puts him in the 88th percentile for weight and he is 35 inches tall which puts him in the 67th percentile for height.

Phin is talking up a storm he is dropping three word phrases all over the place.  I can't remember if I mentioned before but his first 3 word phrase was "I want bullets."  Yes we are apparently raising him right...with a love for Nerf guns.  He also uses the following phrases frequently "I want it," "I don't want it," "I want another one," etc.

He loves to be on the go.  When we get home he loves to climb into the front seat and pretend that he is driving the car.  He also loves to go on scooter rides with his Daddy and bike rides in the bike trailer.

He loved his first visit to Lagoon this season.  He doesn't even need one of us to stand next to him when he is riding the carousel horses.

We stumbled across a little lawn mower at a yard sale and at fifty cents we couldn't pass it up.  Phin loves to push it around inside and outside.  He follows Scott or Seth all over the place.  He has found that it is harder to push on grass...so he prefers to mow the pavement.

He is a climber...which sometimes gets him in some sticky situations.  He will frequently yell out "I stuck."

He is very mischievous and learns quickly by watching us.  He loved the time Seth spent splashing in puddles with him.

He also loves Jalapeno Cheetos just like his daddy.  One day we walked to the grocery store and I decided to buy some.  Phin recognized them right away and insisted on holding them.  After we paid and were walking home I opened them up...and someone didn't want to share with their mom.

Phin can often be found squished between the cushions on our chaise lounger.  He also loves to have a sucker in his mouth.  Every time we walk by the bank he points and says "sucker."

He is pretty messy when he is eating ice cream cones and popcicles.  He has what I call a kitty cat lick and hasn't quite learned to take bites.

When he gets excited he does fist pumps.  We love it.

He loves his toys...and loves to spread them out all over the house.

I made an ice cream brownie cake for his birthday.  He still hasn't figured out how to blow out the candles...next year right?

But he has figured out how to enjoy ice cream...we tease that he goes to Nona's for dessert...not dinner.

We also got him a few Thomas items which he was pretty excited about.  He finally figured out this whole unwrapping presents thing too.

We love our 2 year old.  This is Phin's last monthly post.  It is hard to believe that our Baby is so grown up.  We still say almost everyday "how did we get so lucky to have you come to our family."  We love you Phinner!

MAY

We had a fun and very busy month of May.  Near the beginning of the month we took Max and Ben on a date to a Real Salt Lake soccer game.  Seth was given the tickets through work which included unlimited hot dogs, popcorn and soda.  It was raining pretty hard when we arrived and lightning was causing a delay of game.  When we arrived at the stadium we were told we had to wait outside because there was no more covered room inside the stadium.  We stood outside for almost an hour before we got the courage to just walk in.  We wanted our free food even if the game wasn't going to happen.

Not long after indulging ourselves in stadium food the game started.  I love that Max has a thumbs up in the picture below.  I think he and Benny were in heaven...even in the rain.

We spent Mother's Day weekend and the following weekend in Cache Valley visiting with Seth's parents and family.  Phin loved our stop to Gossner's for some ice cream.

We had a lot of rain in May...Seth and Phin loved playing in the puddles.

We finally got the go ahead on the short sale we had an offer on for months.  After months of waiting the bank wanted to close in 30 days.  We kicked everything into high gear and spent a Saturday over at the house for the inspection.

We also spent quite a bit of time at Home Depot and other stores to price out all of the things that we would need to get our house started.  Phin loved the mowers at the store.  We have made many trips back and each time he says mower and gets pretty excited.  He has to sit on each one.

He was a pretty good sport when we spent some time shopping for appliances...I think the cart at the RC Willey didn't hurt.

We spent Memorial Day at Lagoon with cousins.  Phin loved riding the boats with his cousin twin James.

He can also hold on to the merry-go-round all by himself.

His first ride on Puff with Daddy.  He wasn't sure what he thought about this one.

The skyride with Mom.

The Whale ride...stoic as always.

His new favorite the Jeep ride.

He loved the bumper cars but isn't quite proficient at maneuvering his vehicle.

Of course the choo-choo.

Memorial Day evening we headed up City Creek Canyon for a cookout with our friend Dave.  Phin loved the stream and being outside.  We loved catching up with our friend.

The last weekend of the month Phin and Seth headed to Fathers and Sons.  Phin apparently loved the Mountain House meals Seth prepared.

He was also obsessed with the Little Tykes car that someone brought along. Seth said he always stayed within arms reach of it just in case anyone else wanted to play with it.

Whoosh...and there was May.
