FRIGHTMARES

Last weekend we took Phin on his first trip to Lagoon.

We dressed him up in his Halloween Costume so that he would stay warm...and so he would wear his costume more than once.

Phin was able to ride a few rides.  The first one we took him on was the animal train.

We loved having our friends Amy, Dallin and Zoey along for the day with us.

Next up was the carousel...Seth and I both got dizzy...Phin didn't seem to mind it at all.

Then we headed to Pioneer Village and walked through the corn maze.

Then Amy and Dallin watched Phin while Seth and I went on Rattlesnake Rapids...I was a little skeptical about riding a water ride...but I have to admit it was fun.  We didn't have to wait in any line which was also pretty awesome.  Then Amy watched both kiddos while we rode the Tidal Wave with Dallin.  We headed over for the Spook-A-Boo Alley after that.  Below are a few pictures of Phin with the cast members.  I think he looks pretty cute in the elephant glasses he got in the first room.

After riding the bumper cars, Amy and Dallin took off and we spent a little time trying to get some good pictures of Phin in his costume.  We kind of woke him up from a nap...so he wasn't super smiley...but I think we got a few good ones.

I know Phin will probably not remember his first trip to Lagoon...but I will and I loved the entire day.

Lagoon Trail

A couple of weeks ago Seth's sister, Jamie, flew into the Salt Lake Airport on her way back from being out of town.  Seth picked her up and were were able to enjoy her company for a few hours.  We took her to one of our favorite new walking paths, the Lagoon trail in Farmington.  The area below is our favorite spot.  Thanks for spending the afternoon with us Jamie!  It was delightful!

Date Night and Kite Flying

A couple of Fridays ago we went on a little date night with Phin in tow.  First we toured the Bomb Shelter below.  We had read about it in the paper and wanted to check it out.  It was pretty fancy inside...although it was difficult for Seth to stand up straight..  After our tour we picked up Chinese food and headed back to the park in North Salt Lake for a picnic.  We were hoping it would be windy enough to fly Seth's kite...but we didn't have much luck.

The next night the wind picked up...so we headed back for a little kite flying.  I was able to catch some pretty great pictures with the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island in the background.

NSL to SLC

A couple of weeks ago we headed to a park in North Salt Lake.   I was excited to see a merry-go-round....I kind of thought they were a thing of the past.  Seth and Phin went for a little spin before we hiked the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

We made it to the 1st Radar Station behind Ensign Peak and were treated to a lovely view of the Salt Lake Valley.

On our way back we had awesome views of the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island.

Class of 2031

A couple of weeks ago we had the whole family together and took the opportunity to line up the four youngest for a photo.  It is hard to believe that these four will all be in the same graduating class. They are lined up from oldest to youngest...Aaron, Phin, James and Kate.

3 MONTHS

Phin hit 3 months on Labor Day.  Labor Day marks the end of summer...and the end of Phin being a "little" baby.  I will always remember this summer as the summer of Phin.  We made some great memories.  Phin's current stage of development brings so much joy to my speech therapist heart.  I love to hear him cooing and gooing.  He used to love being on my shoulder but now he would much rather be down on my lap where he can carry on a conversation.  Phin weighs just about 15 pounds and is around 26 inches long.   He is still wearing size 2 diapers and is now full fledged in size 3-6 month clothing.   He is officially sleeping through the night!  He is a dream to put down for the night...we just wrap him up in his Swaddle Me blanket, kiss him good night, turn off the light and walk out of the room.  We put him down around 9 and he sleeps until 6 or 7.  I think he probably sleeps better than me at night...what can I say he takes after his dad in this area.

He has almost grown out of his little Converse shoes.  These little shoes looked like clown shoes on him when he was first born...

He has also almost grown out of the beanie that his Aunt Mary made for him...so I decided to throw it on him one hot day so we could get a picture with Mary.  She also made him the Captain America onesie he is wearing.

His nickname this month was LITTLE RED which was given by his Nona.  In the pictures below you can really see how red his hair is .  He seems to be reverse balding lately...he has lots of hair in the back but is starting to lose it on the sides and the top of his head.  It is coming in pretty blonde...we are hoping he keeps a little of the red.

He has had a few rough evenings when his tummy has been upset.  Here is a shot right after he started to feel better...this one went right down my shirt....YUCK.

Here is a photo of Phin's zombie impression.  We were playing games one night and when we got up to check on him his hands were like this.

He wore his first balloon hat this month...

He got his face painted for the first time...

He also went to his first cookout...he loved watching the fire.

He is still able to sleep anywhere...

He loves group nap time...here he is napping with his cousin Eliza.  We have also started a tradition of Sunday afternoon naps.

He also loves hiking now that he can be turned out.

Everyday I tell Phin that I am so lucky to be his Mama...and it is true.  We love this guy!
