Phin's Preschool

Phin's last day of preschool was the Friday before Memorial Day.  Here is a little comparison of his first day of preschool photo back in August...

...and his last day of preschool photo.  I have to say that I didn't even pose him.

I have been so happy with his preschool this year.  The last week of school they sent home this cute little book filled with photos and information about Phin.  When I opened it up and started looking through I got a little teary eyed.

This is a photo of his beginning of year stats.  He was 40 inches tall and weighed 36.2 pounds.

At the end of the school year he was 42 inches tall and weighed 41.2 pounds.

At the beginning of the school year he couldn't write or recognize any letters, numbers, etc.  He could recognize a square, circle and heart.

At the end of the school year he recognized the letters H, P and X.  He can write the first letter of his name.  He can rote count to 11.  He recognizes the colors pink, red, yellow and green.  He is starting to draw some of his shapes as well.

Here are some of the photos from his book...first day of school.

Painting which became one of his favorite activities.  He ended up wiping his hands all over his shirt after painting this plate.  This shirt was his favorite Captain America shirt...the one shirt he wanted to wear everyday.  I did some laundry magic and got the stains out.

Phin loved the bikes at recess.

He dressed up as Spiderman for Halloween.  They went to every classroom and he came home with a huge load of candy.

He also met Santa at school.  He told me many times through the year that Santa came to the school and held the babies.

His hat for the Thanksgiving feast.

Thanksgiving Feast.  Phin ate breakfast and lunch at school but could never really tell me what he ate...besides chocolate milk and cookies.  It makes sense after seeing this picture...he is digging right into the cookie dessert first.  When I picked him up at the end of the day he was always ready for a snack.

He managed to take a nap almost everyday at school.  I think that with all of the play he needed a nap.  I could tell the days that he skipped a nap because he would fall asleep in the car.

The school did parties for every holiday.  Here he is enjoying the Valentine's Party.

He also loved the St. Patrick's Day party.

He came home with a whole basket of Easter Eggs from the Easter Egg hunt.

One Friday near the end of April, Seth was invited to a Dad's and Lunch.  Phin was so excited to have Seth at his school.  At the end of September, Millie and I joined Phin for a Mom's and ice cream date.

Phin talked constantly about his school friends.  There were definately some he liked...and some he liked less.  This was one of his favorite friends Brennan.  The last week they had a water day.  When Phin was getting into his swimsuit in the morning Millie was already dressed but quickly ran over to the drawer we keep the swimsuits in...she didn't want to be left out.

One of Phin's teachers sent me this picture in a text.  It was taken on his last day.  They went and played at the local park.

School also means that there was quite a bit more paper coming home.  This is Phin's lunch mat that his teacher sent home at the end of school.

His self-portrait.

A cute little watermelon that he painted.

A series of paintings...

Phin also has some AMAZING teachers at church.  They have sent home the cutest activites for him.  He is constantly singing songs from church and teaches us everything he has learned.

This Word of Wisdom page came home with a couple of ziplock bags on the back.  Phin had a whole bunch of items and he would tell us if they were something that was good for his body...or something that should go in the garbage.  This activity kept him busy for a long time.

How grateful I am for everything that Phin has learned this year.  I am grateful for teachers that have loved him and helped him feel safe.  It makes my Momma heart so happy to see my little boy growing up, learning and connecting with others.

20 MONTHS

Millie hit the 20 month mark back in May.  This is one of my favorite pictures of her this month.  This was taken on Mother's Day.  She was acting pretty grumpy before church.  I had her all ready and she climbed up into the stroller and ended up falling asleep.  We ended up pushing the stroller over to church and she slept for most of Sacrament Meeting.

Here she is playing in her favorite area at the Children's museum...the water play.  Millie is definitely much more sensory seeking than Phin was.  One day she pulled the kitchen stool up to the counter while I was downstairs and managed to find the excess fat from when I was browning meat...she wiped it all over the counter and herself...it was so gross!

Millie thinks that she is a big girl.  She wants to be just like Phin.  She managed to find his hiking backpack and would load it up with items and then manage to somehow get it up on her back or wrapped around her legs.

She loves to be outside and doesn't mind getting dirty.

She also loves popcorn.  It is one of her food staples for sure.  We went in for a weight check this month and this little thing finally went up one percentile for weight...we hope this trend continues.  This month she was completely weaned.  I think it was much harder on me than on her...but I have to be honest it is so lovely to be DONE!  She also started sleeping through the night for the most part...WOO HOO!

When she gets tired she likes to be cuddled.

One day we were waiting at the car dealership for several hours while my recalled airbag was replaced.  She loved playing with the new toys.

She and Phin also watched Moana on my iPad while I waited.

This was our best Mother's Day picture...

Phin and Millie are getting to the point that they are constantly playing together.  I love this picture of them riding together in the Little Tikes car.

Phin always asks if he can be in charge of Millie.  Here he is helping her climb up onto the Swan at the Children's Museum.  She insisted on dressing up as a firefighter when she saw Phin dressed that way.

Here they are being turtles under their towels after an evening bath.  Is there anything better than sharing your childhood with someone else!  I am so grateful these two get to be siblings.

Millie spent several days at my best friend Amy's house while my Mom was on a cruise in May.  Amy always sends me cute photo updates.  My heart was so happy to see that Millie was having so much fun with Zoey...

and with Connor.

Fit Mom

I nearly forgot to blog about the Triathlon that I competed in back in May.   I was quite a bit more prepared for this Tri.  We had gone on several bike rides as a family.  Every time that we went to the pool as a family, I would sneak away for 15-20 minutes to swim laps.  I even got some running in during training.

For the most part I have been streaming Beachbody workouts at home.  I have been waking up at 5:30 AM on the days that I work to get my workouts in before the kids are awake...sometimes they wake up before I am done...which means that I have a little added resistance with my workouts. I have completed the 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme Programs since January.

Seth and Phin were away at a Fathers and Sons campout the morning of the race.  My mom was gracious enough to have Millie over for a sleepover so I wouldn't have to wake her up early and drive her in before the race.  Here I am in the bike area before the race.

My bike and gear all ready to go.

I did really well and cut almost 7:30 minutes off my time from last years race.  My overall time was 1:31:42:22.  My swim time was 9:10:13, my bike time was 46:48:09 and my run time was 32:36:41.  I improved my time in all the events which was awesome.  I have a half marathon coming up in July and another Tri on Labor Day so watch for updates on those races.
