We recently had a Crumbl open in Bountiful. Crumbl is a cookie shop that specializes in warm gooey milk chocolate chip cookies. They also have sugar cookies and an assortment of specialty cookies that rotate every week. Crumbl was started by a USU student and they deliver cookies until the wee hours of the morning. We picked up some free cookies on opening day...OH MY THEY ARE GOOD.
We bought a picnic table for our backyard. We eat dinner out on the table most evenings. I love not having to clean up all of the kids crumbs.
We had another warm Sunday and after spending some time out at garage sales we came home to spend some time in the pool.
The blossoms in our yard were gorgeous this year. I think I could plan everything that we plant in the future based solely on how they blossom in the Spring.
Our walnut tree survived having all the branches torn off last Fall. There is lots of growth and even since this picture was taken there has been more growth.
I love my lilacs.
Tawnya and Jami invited us over one Sunday for dinner. Phin and Millie loved playing with their cousins.
Seth has started to play Frisbee regularly. The rest of us go and hang out in hammocks while he plays.
The kids love hammocks so much...that we use them as a bribe at the end of hikes. We have hiked up Mueller Park three times. We have made it to a nice little hammock spot where we stop to rest before heading back down.
Aunt Beth invited us to This is the Place Heritage Park for Train Day. We loved spending time with Beth, Eliza, Lily and Henry.
I think Phin could chase boats down this little creek all day long.
Phin and Millie also spent a lot of time coloring little conductor hats. It was fun for me to see how much their coloring skills have progressed this school year.
Seth and Phin went to Father and Sons the Friday of Mother's Day Weekend. Phin had been looking forward to it for days. The rain didn't dampen their spirits.
The enjoyed a hot dog dinner and roasted lots and lots of s'mores.
Millie is pretty close to being fully potty trained. She has been wearing more dresses because they make potty training a little bit easier.
I loved seeing Phin and Millie sharing blankets while watching a movie one day.
The chalk art festival was a favorite. We walked down one Thursday evening. Millie loved seeing all of the mermaids.
We also found the piece that one of my Beehives drew.
Seth and Phin rode their scooters while I pushed Silas and Millie in the stroller.
We were a little bit slower than Seth and Phin...so Phin decided to rest at the intersection as he waited.
Seth was so kind to take Phin and Millie to Lagoon one Saturday so I could get some extra rest.
Our local IHC had a grand opening. The kids loved bringing home their own balloon flower and goodie bag.
Phin and Millie had a water day at school and got to go all dressed up in their swimsuits...it is the fastest they have gotten dressed for school in a LONG time.
I got a text one Thursday afternoon that my friend Nel was in town from South Dakota. Her youngest brother was getting married so she was down near Lehi for a few days. I was able to drive down with Silas and we spent a couple of hours catching up with each other. Nel was one of my dearest friends at BYU. We lived in the same dorm and were also roommates for two years. It felt like no time had passed since we were last together.
This reminded me that I forgot to post a picture from the beginning of April when my friend Jenn was in town from South Carolina. She and her daughter Emma were able to stop by and meet Silas when he was just a couple of weeks old.
Phin and Millie had their last day of school. Here is a comparison of the first and last day this year.
On their last day they took a field trip to the local park. One of their teachers sent these photos from the field trip.
The last Saturday in May we started the day off with some garage sales. Millie found a Barbie and a little doll house that she was absolutely delighted with.
Then we headed to Lagoon for a few hours. The warm weather made Silas very sleepy.
Seth took Phin and Millie on the log flume. It was a very hot day and the perfect way to cool off.
Millie must have gotten a little squished...because the ride ended in tears.
She did enjoy the bumper cars...but their car was stuck and they didn't move from this spot the entire ride.
The kids had their first push pop of the season...these were my absolute favorite treats as a kid.
We also played a few games.
Then Phin asked that his photo be taken...and had a unique pose.
Then Millie tried to copy the pose.
After Lagoon Seth filled up the kids pool and tricked them into washing his car. Seth has a lot of Tom Sawyer in him. The kids loved the bubbles in the pool and didn't mind doing the work.
The next day I caught Millie with her Barbie and a smaller doll pretending they were a Mom and baby...she had them kiss each other...thus the puckered lips.
Phin's famous pose continued the next day when we took a walk around our neighborhood.
On Memorial Day we started the day off with some pancakes. I have found a yummy banana oat pancake recipe that is gluten free and the kids love it.
After pancakes we hiked up to Mueller Park again with a Geocache box to hide. The kids filled it with treasures they were willing to part with.
Then we found hiding spot for the box. Seth has created a Facebook page to help some of our friends find our treasure. That afternoon Seth, Phin and Millie dropped off some treasure maps to some of our local friends. If you are in the area we would love for you to search for our box.
I went back to work the last Tuesday and Wednesday in May. It was wonderful to see some of my students again and to wrap things up for the school year. It was also bittersweet as Principal Merkley has been moved to another school next year. She has been so kind and supportive. I had the pleasure of working with her as a teacher at Heritage Elementary for four years and as a Principal at my current school for four years. Next year I will work half day every school day and Phin will attend Kindergarten at my school. I will also have my own room after sharing a room with the school counselor for the past five years.
