A blessing

The first Sunday in June, Seth blessed our sweet Silas.  Silas wore the same blessing outfit that Seth and Phin wore when they were blessed.

Silas cried through about half of the blessing...and Millie fake cried next to me through the entire blessing.  Through all the crying I heard Seth bless Silas that he would look to the ancestors that he was named after as an example.  That he would be like Abraham and seek after the Priesthood.  That he would be like Nephi in being an example to his siblings. Seth also blessed Silas with the gift of music.

After the church block we headed to Creekside Park for a luncheon.  We started the luncheon off by singing Happy Birthday to Phin.  He had been looking forward to a party at the park with cousins for weeks.

Then we enjoyed yummy pulled pork that my Mom smoked for the event and sides provided by all of our loved ones.

Seth entertained the kids with stomp rockets.

Uncle Matt also brought his water rocket.

The kids loved cupcakes...

and playing in the water at the park.

They also loved the game that Aunt Jill brought from field day at her kid's school.

We had a big jug full of grape juice and soda from our grape vine.  Phin was playing a little to crazy with his cousins...and threw his cup of juice all over cousin Hannah...who was holding Silas.  Good news is I was able to get all the grape juice out...Dawn dish soap the rescue.

I loved having the party at the park...because once Silas and Millie were tuckered out...we came home and took naps.

Thank you to all of our family and close friends that came to support Silas at his blessing.  We are so grateful to have Silas and all of you in our lives.

Phin at FIVE

Phin turned 5 at the beginning of June.  Here is the last picture of him at 4...just as he was heading to bed.

He was very excited to see a new tepee the next morning.

He also loved his birthday table.  The table was decorated with presents, streamers, balloons and doughnuts.

We had him stand up next to our measuring stick and get measured...a new birthday tradition.  There are also pictures of him as he has grown.  We hung up the pictures at the height he was at that particular age.

Then we got around to presents.

His favorite by far was VOLTRON.

We spent the rest of the day together as a family.  We went to a baptism...crazy to think that we are just 3 years away from Phin's baptism.  We also spent the afternoon doing things that Phin loves to do.

Phin is so excited to go to Kindergarten in the Fall.  He loves Millie and Silas and is a wonderful big brother...most of the time.  He is very outgoing and talks to just about anyone he meets.  He loves to play Daddy's arcade and really loves just about anything that Daddy is doing.  He also loves to figure out how things work.  He comes up with creative ideas.  He continually asks "What should we do now?"  He likes to be busy and we try to keep him busy.  We sure do love our Phinner.

2 MONTHS

Silas hit the 2 month mark back on Phin and Millie's last day of school.  Silas weighs 12 pounds and 12 ounces which puts him in the 45th percentile for weight.  He is 24 inches long which puts him in the 83rd percentile for height. He is still wearing size 1 diapers and just finished up wearing his 3 month clothing.

He is smiling all the time and also coos and goos consistently.  He "talks" more than I remember Phin and Millie talking...but maybe I am just not remembering.

Weekly pictures from this month.

When Phin and Millie were still in school we would often go to the Rec Center and walk around the track.

He is starting to really love tubby time.

His hair is starting to really lighten up and based on his eyebrows and eyelashes...I think he will have similar coloring to Phin and Millie.

So many of Silas' expressions remind me of Phin and Millie.

We hit a pretty awesome milestone this month...6 hours of consecutive sleep...it felt so good.  I am finally starting to feel semi-human again as a result.

We also started to prepare for Silas' blessing.  We pulled out Seth's old blessing outfit and it fit like a glove.

Here is a photo of Seth, Phin and Silas in the same outfit...we definitely haven't broken the mold.

Phin and Millie update:  They love their brother.  They will both run to get blankets, burp clothes and other items for me.  When he starts to cry they both break out into Twinkle Twinkle.  He loves to watch them and is completely entertained by them.
