We spent the first part of Spring Break down in Ephraim visiting Audrey's family. We had planned to go down Saturday night...but Silas wasn't feeling well so we waited until Monday morning to head down. The kids loved making shadow animals on the way down. They loved being reunited with their cousins and especially loved playing in their backyard.
After lunch we headed to Bret's parent's property.
The kids loved climbing up a huge pile of dirt.
King of the mountain!
Phin was a little scared of the horses at first...he brushed them for just a minute.
After the horses were all saddled up Millie headed out for a ride with Emmaline.
Meanwhile...Silas decided this was a comfortable position for a nap.
Phin warmed up to the idea of a horse ride and got on with Millie.
This is one of my favorite pictures from our entire trip.
Seth took a ride...
...I also got a turn.
Millie threw some rocks into the little creek.
Then she and Emmaline skipped around a little.
We rode 4-wheelers down to see some petroglyphs.
The kids loved climbing and exploring together.
The petroglyphs were pretty amazing.
Bret caught a lizard and showed it off to the kids.
The lizard had almost a metallic looking belly.
Our next stop was at Bret's uncle's farm to see the baby calves.
We also got to see some pigs.
We enjoyed a yummy picnic dinner back at Bret's parent's property. Then we visited a little animal sanctuary of sorts. We got to pet some baby goats that were less than a week old.
We also saw a pony...
and lots of horses.
The next day Audrey set up eggs for us to dye.
Bret's family has a tradition of rolling eggs down a hill. We drove to a big hill and used shoves to create a little egg path...
and then let the eggs roll. When the eggs would break and the yolk would roll away we called it a yolker...but Phin couldn't quite say that word so he called them Ogres.
Silas wasn't super interested in the eggs...but he loved the rocks.
Our next stop was Bret's IFA store. The kids got to hold a rabbit. We also checked out the baby ducks and chicks.
For lunch the kids made mini-pizzas which were a huge hit.
Millie managed to take a nap.
We also went out for ice cream at the local diner.
Thank you Audrey and Bret for hosting our family. We had so much fun with your family!
