DECEMBER

Silas tends to sleep with his little bum up in the air...and he manages to also kick the covers off.

 

Millie came into my bedroom one afternoon dressed up as Spiderman. 

We have a few other Spidermans around here too.  Here Seth is showing Silas how to sling a web.  I had a sore throat in December...while I waited for testing results we wore masks and slept in separate rooms.  

 

 

Nona and Papa brought their Christmas PJs over early.  The kids loved wearing them all month long.  On their first night we let them decorate the tree.

We drove around to see Christmas lights several nights in December.  This house was up in Layton and had a radio station with music synchronized to all of the lights.

We also decorated cookies in December.

Silas also decorated the Christmas tree at school.

Phin and Millie love crafts.  We bought this little stocking kit at the store and they had a blast making stockings for their teachers.

Our ward had a Covid Christmas party...which meant we drove around to designated stops in our ward and listened to a YouTube track that read scriptures that told the Nativity story.  Our last stop was a the church building for soup and bread to go.

Phin learned all about the moon at school in December.  His teacher recommended using Oreos to show all the phases of the moon...we all loved this delicious school project.

We also drove up by the Bountiful temple and the block just by the temple had signs with the Christmas story.

Millie was so excited to bring home presents from school.  Her teachers gave her a hot cocoa bomb with a special hot cocoa mug. 

One of the teachers also made the kids a little candy sled.

They had a gingerbread day at school and searched for the gingerbread man.

Millie also got a few other gifts from the High School students.

 

We started Winter Break with a little pizza slumber party at our rental property.  We thought it would be fun to spend a night there before it is eventually rented.  So we packed up pizza and headed over for the night.

We let the kids pick out special movie treats and we watched the movie ELF with our projector.

We walked to downtown Bountiful and enjoyed the Nativity scene.

We stopped outside the new ice ribbon for some hot chocolate.

Every year I take Millie's picture in front of the Christmas tree. 

We drove up to Bountiful Blvd to see the Christmas star.

We also spent some time enjoying the lights at the park in Centerville.

I took the kids down to see the window displays at City Creek Center.

They liked the little animation display of "The Night Before Christmas."

They also liked the display for "The Nutcracker."  We were able to also watch Ballet West's performance on TV before Christmas.

Millie painted a little stocking.

We enjoyed steaks on Christmas Eve.

Christmas morning was a big hit.  The kids were surprised to see a Lego train set up for them.

Millie loved her Barbie car and helicopter.

Silas loved catching up on all of the chocolates in his advent calendar.

Phin's school made gifts are always my favorite.

We also got two snow tubes...and are now impatiently waiting for snow.

The kids also got mini remote-controlled cars.  They loved racing them in the snow tubes.

Phin got a Kiwi crate subscription box.  For this one he put together a constellation lantern and a model of the Sun, Earth and Moon.

We did the Snowman Scavenger hunt up at Farmington Station.  The kids loved the Crumbl mini-cookie prize at the end of the hunt.

While we were at Farmington Station I just happened to look into Fiiz...and saw my cousin Rachelle's son Carver.  It was so fun to grab a quick picture with him. He is currently serving in the Layton Utah Mission.

Phin, Millie and Seth rode the ice bumper cars at Farmington Station.

We went to Hogle Zoo for Wild Wednesday.  Silas was so fun at the zoo..  He got so excited to see each animal.

 

We spent a lot of our Winter Break potty training Silas.  He is doing a really good job.

We also visited the Ice Castles up at the Homestead Resort.

So grateful for this family of mine.

 

We ended our visit with hot chocolate and snacks back at the car.  We spent New Years Eve playing games and chilling at home.  2020 was a tough year but as I have looked back on the year to make our Christmas card and calendar I have been reminded of the many bright moments in this tough year.  I also have cherished the phrase "A weary world rejoices."  This tough year has made us rejoice in so many things.  Bring on 2021!

Prayers

I was getting ready to post about December and realized that I had forgotten to post this picture from November. We had gone for a walk as a family to the library which is about a mile and half away.  When we got to the library Phin couldn't find his mask.  So, I went in quickly to pick up a hold, while Seth waited outside with the kids.  Then we headed to the park and tried to retrace our steps back home.  On our way home Phin found his mask which had fallen out of his pocket onto the sidewalk.  He immediately said "I prayered that I would find my mask."  He was so happy that his prayer had been answered.  Yes he said "prayered."  It was a reminder to me to have faith and that prayers are answered.
