For some reason Blogger is posting all my pictures in reverse order...and this month I don't have the patience to switch them all around. So here is our month in reverse. We finally got some good snow the last weekend in January. We loaded up our new snow tubes and headed to our "hidden" hill for sledding. Near the end of our trip Phin built a jump and we got some air.
He also managed to get run over by Seth and Silas...here was the aftermath.
Silas refuses to wear his snow boots...so here he is in sneakers. He also insisted on stomping in puddles up by the pavillion and then he decided to soak his mittens in the water as well. Oh to be two...
Millie absolutely loved our Kiddie Toboggan. Seth and I linked the tubes together in a train and then pulled Millie behind...she was in heaven.

I got my second dose of the Pfizer Covid vaccine the last Friday of the month. I heard from many that the side-effects with the second dose were more pronounced...so I loaded up with some meds before the shot. Davis County has this system down. They were set up at the Fairgrounds and after winding through a parking lot I drove into the main Fairground building for the shot. Then drove to another parking lot to wait 15 minutes for potential side-effects. Easy peasy. The second dose just made my arm super sore...sore enough that it woke me up in the middle of the night. Other than that I didn't have any side effects.
It was super convenient that the kids could be with me. They were quite relieved that they didn't need to get a shot.
Phin had an early out day due to Parent teacher conferences. I had some one-on-one time with him so we headed to the Book Garden and found a Star Wars Origami book. He loved making light sabers with me.
I also took him out for a treat. I asked him if he wanted a cookie or ice cream...he said ice cream because then he could technically have both. So we headed to Blacksmith Ice Cream and he had a Cookies and Cream/Cookie Dough ice cream.
Silas' favorite color is green. I was not at all suprised when his school sent a picture of him wearing a green painting smock.
We are now officially a part of the Peloton family. We ordered our bike the Saturday after Christmas and it arrived the last week of January. I downloaded the Peloton app in December and have been doing Cardio and Strength workouts...it is so nice to do some Cycling classes now.
We have been potty training Silas...I was delighted to get this message in his school notification app.
One late afternoon it started to snow and the kids could not wait to get out and play in the snow...so they ended up playing a little bit in the dark.
Sarah, Joe, Kate, Harvey and Rachel came down over Martin Luther King Day. We were able to meet them at Wheeler Farm for a few hours of fun. Just as we got to the duck pond a lady showed up with pounds of food for the ducks. The kids were in heaven.
We visited all of the animals and were quite grossed out by some huge dead rats in some of the enclosures. There was one in this chicken coop...the kids were equal parts facinated and grossed out.
Seth said he remembered this little playhouse from when he was a little boy.
I keep trying to take Millie and Silas to the park on Thursdays before we pick up Phin. Silas is fearless.
Millie loves the see-saw park and requests this one often.
Silas had a dinosaur week at school...more green for this green loving boy.
On Monday I spend time meal prepping Clean Simple Eats Meals...the kids find ways to keep themselves entertained.
Phin has loved taking tennis racquets on our walks and hitting the ball around a little. I see tennis lessons in his future this summer.
My first dose was on January 8th. I was able to get one because I am a Speech-Language Pathologist so in a medically related field. It has been pretty nerve racking to give speech therapy unmasked (with face shields and a plexiglass barrier) all year. As one of my good friends said...this shot was like a "shot of hope." Hope that things will get back to "normal" before too long.
Phin loves little projects. I found a good deal on a few craft kits and had this one to pull out for him.
I don't get pictures of Millie very often at school...so this one is a real treasure. Millie adores her friends. She continues to mention friends that went to school with her last year. It is fun to see her at recess surrounded by friends.
Utah celebrated 125 years of Statehood at the beginning of January. My mom invited us up to her house to see the fireworks...what a spectacular view. It was also nice to see cousins that we hadn't seen for months.
We made it to the new ice ribbon downtown. Here Silas is at the end of our visit watching the Zamboni.
Of all the fun activities we did over Winter Break...Phin said this was his favorite. He can't wait to go back.
We started out with just one "ice walker" but ended up getting two. Phin felt more comfortable skating behind one. He even got pretty good at pushing Millie around too.
For most of our visit we had Millie and Silas hanging on to an ice walker together. Honestly this trip would not have been possible without this amazing invention.
Our Christmas cards were finally sent out in January...which seems so symbolic of this crazy year. I ordered our cards the Saturday after Thanksgiving. They shipped on December 2nd and then were lost somewhere in mail land. I contacted the company around the middle of December and was reassured that my cards were on their way. I contacted them again after Christmas...and one of their service representatives ordered replacements without notifying me. At that point I would have changed the cards to New Years cards...but it was too late. At least we found some cute Scooby-Doo stamps to go with our cards. Oh and our original cards arrived the middle of January.
We spent New Years Eve and Day playing games. Phin has become quite the little board gamer. It is so fun to see our kids growing up and sharing our loves.
