We had several more laid back weeks at the beginning of August. The kids loved hanging out in their jammies to watch movies.
Millie with a little leaf face art.
We visited my Aunt Harriet at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was kind enough to give us a private tour of her favorite things in the museum.
Cute Lou wandered into my room with three basketballs stuffed under her shirt. This little one is talking so much more and it is just delightful to see her personality coming out.
I pulled out a few more dresses that the girls fit in. Millie is wearing one that belonged to her Cousins Emily/Jane. I believe Lou's is one that once belonged to Millie.
The kids were so proud of the large Lego heart they made from Duplos.
As much as the kids love hanging out in their PJs. I love getting out of the house. I convinced them to leave the house one day to go to Kangaroo Zoo. Lou loved so many of the bounce houses.
The arcade games were also a huge hit.
Lou also loved the big slide.
We held Activity Days Olympics. This was the Flaming Hot Cheetos contest...Phin won which totally surprised me as he usually shies away from spicy food.
JB and Mary were away on a cruise and we were lucky enough to take James and Millie to Lagoon with us. The kids had so much fun at Lagoon-a-Beach.
Phin, Millie and Silas went up to Lego camp at Grandma Jo and Grandad's. They had so much fun building Legos with cousins.
After we dropped the kids off we went to Casper's to buy some Fat Boy seconds.
Seth drove up to pick them up the next day and stayed for some of the activities.
One of my favorite things is to watch my kids play together. Lou and Millie especially enter quite the imaginary role.
We also had Back-to-School Night.
Lou insisted getting a picture too.
At the start of the year a new SLP was assigned to work at my school. I was also assigned to be her mentor. We realized very quickly how small of a world it is when I realized she was the daughter of our landlords when we first moved back from South Carolina. I remember her mother asking me about being an SLP. We showed up to the first day both wearing Gingham. It was quite funny as we walked around to talk to teachers and they all pointed out our matching outfits. Our partnership didn't last too long. The caseload at her other school was much higher than originally anticipated so she was moved their full time. I am lucky enough to still be her mentor.
The first day of school finally came. These kiddos were so excited to wear their new shirts and get back to see their friends. They were all ready for the first day in record time.
We had a big Activity Days Summer Goals Celebration at the end of August. My goal this year has been to make yummy cakes so I made another Peach Crisp Cake. Millie was very interested and offered to help me.
We had several different stations representing the four ares for goals (Intellectual, Spiritual, Physical and Social). At this station the kids made parachute cord keychain.
Seth is the best tea party hostess.
It has been fun to have a little extra time with Lou while the kids are at school. Here she is holding my hand while we watched a show. We have also gone to the pool and to parks.
A neighboring city had a Police Night Out activity. The kids loved the blow up soccer game.
Silas is loving 1st Grade he is honestly such a creative kid and he remembers details like crazy. Here he is showing off one of his Block-a-Roo creations.
Seth took the kids to a Lego convention while I got my hair done one Saturday. They met up with Scott and his family.
Silas is in his 2nd year of Let's Play Music.
I went to the Pizza 2.0 class at Orson Gygi. I learned all the things about Detroit Style Pizza and New York Style Pizza. The class was definitely upped my pizza game.
We pulled the trigger and got a Blackstone and it has become one of Seth's favorite toys. Phin is also very interested and was more than willing to help Seth when we made smash burgers.
Millie is so happy to be in the same class as one of her very favorite friends. She was invited to an all day pool birthday party and was in absolute Heaven.
