OCTOBER

October continues to be one of my favorite months of the year.  We packed so much fun into October...here is our month in reverse.  Lou had so much fun trick-or-treating with her preschool class at the High School. I forgot to take photos on Halloween night but we trick-or-treated several streets in our neighborhood...and even found a new friend that fit into our family theme to trick-or- treat with.

A "dance party" in the girls room.

The trunk or treat at Seth's work is one of our favorite events of the year.  The kids loved that they got to take a a balloon home.  We went with a Harry Potter theme this year.  Seth was Professor Snape, I was Professor Trelawney, Phin was Draco Malfoy, Millie was Hermione Granger, Silas was Harry Potter and Lou was Hedwig.

We made a couple trips to Cross E Ranch in October.  I took the three youngest the last Wednesday of the month when Seth and Phin were at mutual.  It was absolutely magical out there at night.

Millie has been working really hard with her reading tutor and earned a Hedwig Squishmallow.

We had Lou's birthday cake the Sunday after her birthday.  She wanted to have her cake with cousins.  It was a really delicious Cake by Courtney Strawberry cake with a cream cheese frosting.

We spent the Saturday before Halloween up in Cache Valley for the annual family Halloween party.  Jill and Ayrith Eden offered to teach Seth how to process deer.  While he was working I took the kids out for pizza and ran a few other errands.

At the Halloween party Seth did a potions class for our rotation.  He had the kids mix up yummy drinks with ingredients like dragon pee and fairy dust.  He really got into character and it was so funny.

Here is a photo of the wig gang.

And a photo of the whole group.

The Friday before Halloween we went to a few trunk-or-treats.  This one had a balloon artist and some face painters.  Silas got a sword of Griffindor balloon and a snitch face paint.

Millie got a time turner.

Lou of course became an owl.

We also went to the Sheriff Office Trunk or Treat.  The kids all entered a costume contest for their age groups.  Lou won most creative for her age group.

Lou and I went out for an ice cream one afternoon...she of course got pink.

I took Millie to a Mom and Me Caramel Apple class at Orson Gygi.  It was so much fun.  We were able to make 6 apples together.  Millie planned out the flavors.

Our favorite neighbor, Emmy brought Lou a few birthday treats.  Emmy works at Mrs. Backer Pastry Shop.  Lou was so excited the boxes were pink.

Lou started her birthday off with a pink doughnut.  She loved opening presents from her siblings.

We had a random early out day so we went to the Children's Museum.  It was so fun to watch Lou play with her siblings.

Lou helped me make some pumpkin shaped sugar cookies.

We happened upon a Trunk-or-treat when we were out running Saturday errands.

We also stopped by an Open House for Seth's work and picked up free doughnuts and pumpkins.

We had a lovely Fall Break. Seth and I went on a hike one Saturday morning up above Centerville.

On Friday night we had JB and his kids over for an outdoor movie.  We watched the new Bad Guys movie.  It was a chilly evening but we had the best time with cousins.

During the day on Friday I took the kids out to Cross E Ranch.

On Thursday, we visited the Zoo and Red Butte Garden

Red Butte Garden had a fun Wicked theme which we loved.

I also bribed my kids to get their flu shots.  Target gives a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $20 if you get your flu shot there.  Millie chose a Hermione wand and a Harry Potter mystery ball.  Silas got a creeper stuffy, kinetic sand and a plus plus play-set. Lou got a Minnie Mouse cash register that the kids played store with all Fall Break.  Phin couldn't decide...so we may have to go back to spend his coupon.

We also went to a local Pumpkin walk and carved pumpkins.  We went with the Harry Potter theme for the pumpkins too.  Phin carved the sorting hat, Millie helped with the Hogwarts castle, Silas helped with the snitch and Lou helped with Hedwig.

Millie's Junior Jazz season started.  She is so excited for game days that she often wears her jersey to school or changes into it as soon as she gets home.

Lou fell asleep while we were out running errands and transferred inside the house asleep.  I know that these days of holding a child during a nap are quickly ending so I decided to just sit on the couch and enjoy every moment of her sleepy snuggles.

I also got some Lou snuggles up at Nona's house on a Sunday.

Lou loves to paint, use markers, etc.  She got some paints at a Trunk-or-Treat and couldn't wait to use them.

Here is a photo from the first Trunk-or-Treat we went to.  It was hot and I don't know how Lou and Phin handled their costumes and wigs in the heat.

We had a ward chili cook-off.  The YW were in charge of some activities and Millie and Silas loved this art project.

I got a new sourdough cookbook in September and have had so much fun testing out some recipes.  The cinnamon rolls were divine.

I sewed Lou's costume and all of the kids robes this year.  It was so fun to see all of the kids get excited as the costumes came together.  Lou especially loved seeing her costume come to life.

Another sourdough recipe...Monkey bread.

Phin invited some friends over for s'mores and night games. I was proud of him for stepping into that leadership role and initiating a big get together.

A final picture of how I spent most of conference weekend...sewing on rows of feathers with Lou on my lap.  Thank you for all the good memories October...we are already dreaming of when you return next year.
