SEPTEMBER

Here is our September in reverse... we got Flu shots. It was a drive through clinic near our house and an absolute breeze.  

 

We treated the kids to some ice cream after their shots.  I also got my Covid booster shot...only side effect was a super sore arm.

 

We have a few minutes in the car when we are waiting to pick Phin up...Millie usually does her homework with me during this time.  Here she is "reading" to Silas.

 

Silas continues to love his rescue bots...he is seriously the best at playing with toys.  I love watching him with all his toys.

 

Phin is taking the Bridges Let's Play Music Class.  Our former teacher decided to stop teacher so we actually found a teacher that is just a few blocks from us...which makes getting Phin to lessons much less time consuming.  We have gotten into a good routine of him doing his practice before school each morning.  It has been so fun to see him develop this talent.

 

We pulled out our fire pit and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows one evening.

 

Seth also spent a Saturday afternoon harvesting and steaming all of our grapes to make grape juice.  It was nice to have our little camping stove and do the hottest part of the job outside.  We ended up with over 20 quarts of grape juice.

 

Millie had her long awaited birthday in September.  She helped me make a "ballerina cake."

 

We had a birthday Chick-Fil-A dinner for her at the park.  We made sure she had some ice cream you can drink.

 

We gave Millie a couple of my old Barbie's one was Totally Hair Barbie and the other was All-American Barbie.  It is kind of fun to see the 90s makeup and hairstyles.

 

Phin and Millie loved the fundraiser event for their school.  They were able to run laps around the school to raise money.  This year our school gave school shirts to each kid, which they wear every Friday. I have one too...so on Fridays we all match.

 

Phin had three teeth pulled in September.  We visited the orthodontist for the first time in August and he recommended that we have them pulled because the roots of those teeth were not being absorbed quickly by Phin's adult teeth.  Phin is no longer our "extra tooth" kid as his extra tooth was one of those pulled.

 

He was really nervous for the appointment but our dentist was awesome.  The dentist took a long time numbing Phin up.  Then when he finally pulled a tooth out...Phin couldn't believe how fast it came out.  As we were walking out of the office after the appointment Phin said "I want to have all of my teeth pulled here."  He wrote a letter to the tooth fairy asking if he could keep his teeth to show his friends at school...but then he changed his mind and decided he wanted the money from the tooth fairy right away.

 

 

On Labor Day we stuck around our house.  We pulled out the kiddie pool and some water balloons for the kids.  Silas loves to bite the balloons and turn them into little fountain shows.

 

Millie is officially a Red Balloon in Let's Play Music.  I go to her class every other week and she loves the one on one time with me.  

AUGUST

 Here is our August in reverse... Silas back at school and doing some watercolor painting.

Silas got to ride on Daddy's scooter to his first day of school.

 

Silas had a major case of the grumps on his first day...but Phin was able to snap him out of that long enough for us to get a first day back picture.

 

We stopped by our favorite ice cream stop to celebrate one of the first days of school.

 

To say Millie was excited for her first day of school would be a major understatement.  She was up by 6:30 AM and came out of her bedroom with her backpack on.

 

I am working half days every weekday so that I am on the same schedule as Millie's kindergarten class.  Which means we have some quality time in the car as we wait to pick up Phin each day.

Phin was excited for his first day too...can't believe this guy is in 3rd grade.  He suddenly seems so grown up.

 

We loved the Car show on Main Street.  After the show we stopped by the balloon artist for some balloon creations.

 

The kids loved catching candy...

 

They even caught some Hot Wheels cars.

 

They cheered on each car and tried to get them to honk or rev their engines.

 

We spent a morning at the park with friends building fairy houses.

 

We went to Back to School Night so the kids could meet their teachers.

 

We took one last camping trip to Tony's grove.  We weren't sure this trip was going to happen.  We made our reservation back in February/March but then in June we got an email saying our reservation was cancelled because of construction on the road up to Tony's grove.  Then the week before our reservation we got an email reminder...well after several calls we found out the road was closing the afternoon that we were scheduled to leave.  Tony's grove is one of our favorite spots so we are so happy the trip could happen after all.  Grandad came up and spent Saturday afternoon/evening with us.  My only complaint about the trip was the lack of bathrooms.  Because the campground was going to be closing they removed all the porta-potties the day that we arrived...which meant there was just one bathroom for the entire campground...and it was quite a ways away from our campsite.

 

On our way up to Tony's grove we stopped by Angie's and had ice cream for dinner.  We tried our hardest but we couldn't quite clean the kitchen sink.

 

We spent an afternoon up at the Kaysville Splash Pad with friends and cousin Carver.

 

I bought some push-pops for the kids...it was very nostalgic for me.

 

Phin and Millie had a private swim lesson at the Rec Center...I am thinking this may be the way to go for swim lessons.  They made more progress in 30 minutes then they have made during an entire public session previously.

 

We made some homemade pizza one night.  Phin declared it the most delicious pizza ever.

 

Uncle Jeff set up a slip and slide and even had a cool Rainbow tunnel.  The kids were in heaven.

 

We met our Idaho cousins at Harmon's for some yummy gelato.

We also took a camping trip up to Albion Basin.  

 

Lisa Falls was the perfect length hike for our little crew.

 

We had cousins join us one night for dinner and marshmallows.

 

We stopped by the park at Snowbird to get some energy out.

 

We got some ice cream at Alta ski resort.

 

We also went to a bird show and got to see a few predatory birds.

 

We hiked to Cecret lake and enjoyed all of the wildflowers along the way.

 

Millie tripped and got some cuddles from Daddy.

 

Millie has been eyeing Barbie's and insisted I take this picture when we stopped to browse the toy section at the store.

 

We had a little picnic at the park one day.

 

Millie found the Princess goldfish crackers that I bought and proceeded to have a guessing game with Phin.  She would describe the princess on the bag and then have Phin guess the princess she was describing.

 

Phin learned to mow the lawn in August.  He has been wanting to earn more money and we figured he was big enough to handle this chore.

 

When we picked the kids up from Grandma Jo's we visited with our Benson cousins.  Phin learned how to ride cousin Gavin's hoverboard.

 

He also played with Watson.

 

Uncle Jotham let the kids ride his horses and they were in heaven.

 

Silas didn't want to ride the horses...he preferred his cousin's little roller-coaster.
