SUZ: March

Here is our March in reverse. Silas had so much fun at his school's Easter egg hunt. The kids always make cute little baskets out of paper plates. The teachers absolutely spoil them with treats and gifts.

I love watching these three play together...I can't remember exactly what they were playing on this particular day but they were sure enthusiastic about it. Lou wasn't sure about Phin's Chewy mask.

Millie has been a huge helper when I am making bread. She begged me to give her a little piece of dough and she prepared it just like I prepare my loaves.

Silas finally had his birthday. He had been counting down for months. We had his cake a few day late. I made a yummy chocolate sourdough cake with Oreo pudding and whipped cream as the frosting.

Since we didn't have his official birthday cake on his birthday...we had some cupcakes from the store.

Silas loved all of his birthday gifts. He had the best time playing with his new Legos with Millie and Phin.

We had doughnuts for his birthday breakfast.

He was the last one up on his birthday...so we all went and woke him up by singing Happy Birthday!

Nona and Papa gave him this Snap Dino set. He is able to create Dinosaurs using the wooden blocks that have snaps. He LOVES this toy. He insisted on carrying it with him everywhere we went for days.

We were able to get some Home Depot kits for our Activity Days in March. We had the boys put together a wooden pin ball.

Silas was very entertained by the bubble wrap that was around his Dino Snap toy. He couldn't resist jumping on it to pop all the bubbles.

Millie got a coupon for a free ice cream at Handel's at her last parent teacher conference. We finally went to redeem her coupon...she was thrilled...this was a small.

Millie has been loving her Little Passports Kitchen Adventures box. She got a box from Greece this month and loved putting together this little flute.

Silas loves visiting the library. I have started to keep a bag of library books in my car. We often have a few minutes to wait when we pick Phin and Millie up from school and Silas has loved having new books read to him.

We celebrated the First Day of Spring at Dairy Queen. We LOVE ice cream.

Silas one Sunday evening as he was running back from getting his pajamas. He ended up with a pretty good gash from his glasses in his forehead. He needed three stitches. Nona was kind enough to remove the stitches at the week mark.

The kids loved celebrating St. Patrick's Day with Lucky Charms from Grandma Jo and $2 bills from Nona and Papa.

We met up with friends at a park one Friday afternoon. The kids decorated shamrock sugar cookies and played in the sand.

We celebrated 3/14 Pie Day this year. I wasn't organized enough to make the pie...but this store bought pie hit the spot.

Silas loves granola bars...especially these chocolate chip bars. I have to limit him to just one a day.

He was really so brave about this stitches. I don't think any of the other kids would have held quite as still as Silas did.

Silas cracks me up. We went out for pizza one night and he said "Look Mom, two straws, we can drink at the same time."

We also went out for ice cream. Silas is usually our chocolate lover...but he couldn't pass up this Marshmallow flavored ice cream with marshmallows in it from Cold Stone.

Seth organized a Pine Wood Derby for all of the Activity Day age kids (and Silas...) It was such a fun activity. One of the boys even wrote Seth a thank you note requesting that we do the Derby every year. Seth wanted all of the kids to have a positive experience so the theme of the Derby was "BEAT THE BLOCK." The goal was for each kid to just beat a block with wheels. They each raced in three heats and then Seth had an Excel spreadsheet set up comparing their heat times to the block.

We set up a little photo op. As each kid arrived they had their photo taken and checked in their car.

Phin competed in Federation this year. He memorized two piano pieces by American composers. He had worked hard on these pieces since January. I took him out for a little treat after the competition. We have since learned that he received a Superior rating (highest rating possible). Way to go Phin!

The kids loved spending time with Seth getting their cars ready for the Pine Wood Derby.

Silas often builds himself a little fort out of the pillows on our couch when he is watching TV.

We had a great weekend at Salt Con. Seth's best friend Matt and his two older kids were able to join us a few evenings for games.

We played the new Azul game. I loved it...but we already own two versions of this game and this one is quite the brain buster.

One of Seth's favorite games was Space Base.

Phin loved this 5-Minute Dungeon game. We ended up buying a used copy from the game swap area. We already own 5-Minute Marvel and 5-Minute Mystery games. Our kids love this quick cooperative games.

The kids all played in a Catapult Castle game. Phin came in 3rd in this tournament. The guy that came in first was so kind and since he already owned a copy of the game he gave the copy he won in the tournament to Phin. Our kids loved this dexterity game.

Overall our favorite game from this convention was Silver. We quickly bought a copy and have played it almost non-stop since the convention. This game has expansions similar to Dominion...so if we keep playing it non-stop, maybe we will buy an expansion pack.
