Frightmares

The first Saturday in October we went to Lagoon for Frightmares.  It was Papa's last day as exec of the day this season.  

The kids loved going though all the trick-or-treat stations.

Silas also enjoyed his first ride on the carousel.

 

I also got to ride the big bumper cars with Phin.

6 MONTHS

Silas hit 6 months just a few days after Millie's birthday.  He is 27 inches tall (67th percentile) and 16 pounds 1 ounce (22nd percentile).  He learned how to sit up this month.  He is still wearing 6 month clothing and is in size 2 diapers.

He is doing an awesome job sleeping through the night.  He is not the best napper...but we will take what we can.

Here are his weekly pictures from this month.  During his appointment his pediatrician asked if he is always so smiley...I answered YES.

 

We pulled out the jumper for him.  He wasn't sure what he thought.

Phin and Millie quickly reassured him that it was a great thing.

We started introducing some solid foods. There are many helping hands...maybe too many.

Here is a photo of Phin, Silas and Millie enjoying their first tastes of solid food side-by-side just for comparison sake.  I think SIlas is a pretty good mix of his siblings.

Phin often asks to have pictures taken with Silas.  I love watching their brother relationship grow.  Phin gets the best giggles out of Silas.  He also can entertain Silas very well when I just need a couple more minutes to get a chore done.  So grateful for these boys of mine.

Blue Mermaid Party

Here is the last picture of my 2 year old Millie.  For weeks before her birthday she told people she was having a Blue Mermaid party.  The day before her birthday I started to feel really guilty for not having anything planned...so we threw together a party last minute. We invited a couple of friends from her nursery class.

Millie woke up to the traditional streamers, balloons and banner.  We pulled out our birthday tablecloth and set out doughnuts and presents.

At lunch time we let her open her presents...Phin helped.

She got lots of girly toys and LOVED them.  

She got a mermaid finger puppet from Grandma Jo and Grandad.

She loved the mermaid costume that Papa and Nona gave her. 

She also loved the cake topper from Nona and Papa. I made a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.  I colored the frosting green/blue and added some blue sprinkles and Swedish Fish.  Then I put crushed graham crackers on top.  I was quite delighted with how it turned out.

We served Papa Murphy's pizza, carrots, cherry tomatoes (from our garden), grapes and pineapple.

We also had an Ariel balloon...a little story about the balloons. I went to the store to pick up just a couple more things for the party...with all three kids.  We got the balloons and the groceries and were heading out to the car.  I asked Phin to open the car door for Millie and he opened it with all his might...and just happened to hit Millie in the head with the door. She started crying immediately and I could see a hematoma.  I tried to comfort her while negotiating the cart, the baby and the balloons.  In the process I leaned against the car and one of the balloons popped.  When people say "You have your hands full,"  I just want to respond "You have NO idea."

As friends were coming they made chalk mermaid outlines and drew an ocean scene on our patio.

We pulled out our stick horses for some Seahorse races.

We also played Mermaid, Mermaid---Shark (Duck, Duck---Goose).

We also played pass the Mermaid and the kids passed along a Lego Mermaid until the music stopped...then they got a Seal stamp on their hand.

We played Under the Sea limbo.
 

Then we sang to the birthday girl and enjoyed the cake.

Our best friends were sick the night of Millie's party but dropped off a little Cinderella doll a couple of days later.  Millie also loved the tutu from her cousins Eliza and Lily.
