My cousin Rachelle was in town from New Mexico with her family over Memorial Day Weekend. My Aunt Becky passed away the week before and Rachelle as in town for the funeral.  I was able to visit with Rachelle on the Friday before Memorial Day at the funeral and was so excited she made time to visit us the night we got back from camping.  She even brought us a pizza dinner.  We had so much fun chatting and playing games.  Phin loved playing the arcade with Griffin.

Millie and Silas had their last day of Preschool in May.  I had to wait until after school to get Silas' picture because he had a serious case of the morning grumps.

He and Millie were both so excited to show of their school "scrapbooks."

We said goodbye to Izzy the Impreza.  We decided to donate her to KUER for the tax writeoff.  It was a little hard to say goodbye because of all of the memories this car holds...it was the first car that I bought, and the car we drove on our honeymoon to South Carolina and then all over the East Coast.

The kids also had a water day their last week of school.

Phin gave me a Zinnia plant for Mother's Day.  He came to me in tears one day so sad that I had let the plant die.  I obviously don't have a green thumb...

We found some roller-blades at a garage sale one Saturday.  Phin has been wanting roller-blades for ages.  He was so excited...but quickly learned that the roller-blades were going to take some serious practice.

We have these beautiful snowball like blossoms on a bush in our backyard...we have lived her six years and this is the first time that I have even noticed them.

 

 

Millie and Silas came home with crowns one day.

The French class also came in to teach Millie's class some french words.

We have really enjoyed the warmer weather of May.  It has been so nice to spend more time outside.

One Saturday we had cousins from Cache Valley down for an Ultimate Frisbee tournament.  We were able to go and watch a few games.  The kids loved seeing their cousins.

 

Silas can often be found with books and action figures.

Phin was vacuuming out our car when we got back from our St. George trip and lost his tooth.  It feel somewhere beneath the seats and he was unable to find it...so he wrote the tooth fairy this note: "Dear Tooth Fairy.  I lost my tooth in the car and I have proof, look in my mouth."

Millie requested a picture with me one day.  I can't believe this girl is going to Kindergarten in just a few short months.

There were free car washes for teachers on Teacher Appreciation Day.  We took advantage of the deal.

We explored a new park while Millie was at a birthday party in May.

Memorial Day Camping Trip

We spent Memorial Day weekend down in Central Utah camping with Seth's parents and three of his sister's families.  Our kids had the best time staying up late, playing outside and being with their cousins 24-7.  Here is our weekend in reverse.  Our last stop was at Baker Hot Springs.  These little hot springs were in middle of nowhere and just perfect for our crew.  There were three little pools and they each was a little different temperature.  I preferred the one that was "just right."  When I asked Phin which one was his favorite he said "The one with the most cousins in it." 

We had lunch at Delta City Park before visiting the hot springs.  They had a fun little stream water feature that Millie loved exploring with her cousins.  Just before this we had visited the Topaz Museum where we learned all about the Topaz Japanese Internment Camp. 

As we broke camp, Gavin and Phin found some interesting ways to keep themselves entertained.

On Sunday we had stopped at Sunstone Knoll to look for Sunstones.  Cousin Mark found a lizard that the cousins were quite entertained with.

We also visited the Tabernacle Hill Lava Tubes.  Here Seth is giving Silas a sack-of-potatoes carry.

Cousin Mark was so sweet to Silas and took him through many of the tubes that were too small for Seth and I to squeeze into.

This tunnel/tube was my favorite.  It got pretty dark in the middle section but our kids didn't mind pulling out our lanterns.

Uncle Jotham offered to trade Millie hats...she was quite thrilled with the trade.

Phin loved some mini toys that Gavin brought on the trip.

 

Our campsite was right next to a little amphitheater and the kids sat in a circle on Saturday night to tell "creepy" stories.

 

Phin was excited to play SCARE IT! with his cousin.  Silas and Reed were happy to watch.

We stopped at the Delta Splash pad after our dusty Saturday adventures.

Phin had the best time with Gavin.

We stopped between Topaz Mountain and the Dugway Geo-beds to find Apache Tears/Obsidian.

 

Our big adventure on Saturday was to the Dugway Geo-beds...we got a little lost on some dirt roads on the way there and were delighted when we finally found the destination.

 

Philip had a definite skill for finding Geodes...this was probably the best find from the day.

 

Silas decided he was on a Doritos diet for the weekend.  The bag was nearly as big as him...so he had a large supply.

The kids also made masks out of the large leaves that they found at the campsite.

The S'mores were a huge hit on Friday night.

We loved our campsite.  It was the Oak Creek Campground just outside of Oak City.  The kids loved exploring on the rocks.  The adults loved the large covered pavilion.

Silas was in heaven the whole weekend.  He ran around with his older cousins and occasionally stopped in to check on his parents.

We had the best weekend with family and are so excited to spend more time camping this summer.
