Conference Weekend at the Cabin

We headed down to the cabin in Escalante for Conference/Easter Weekend.  We left after Seth got home from work on Thursday.  You can see from the picture below that Silas was very excited to hit the road.

The kids were tuckered out when we arrived and were delighted to wake up and be surrounded by cousins.  We overlapped for just Friday morning with JB and Mary's family.

 The kids were so excited to be reunited with cousin Carver.

Our first adventure took us to the Willis Creek trail.  We drove on a dirt road for quite a while and the kids loved to just say "ahhhh" and hear their voices shake.

This trail was just perfect for our crew.  It was through a bit of a slot canyon and the hike was mostly flat.

The trail was really fun because there were spots where the ice hadn't melted from the winter.

We should have brought some water shoes for Silas...he had absolutely no fear in getting right into the water.

The kids were really good hikers.  I love watching them interact with each other.

 Phin found a huge rock to climb. 

He was brave enough to climb all the way to the top.  Then he slid down.  On his way down he said "This is going to be epic."  It was epic...he tore quite the hole in his pants. 

Millie and Carver loved sleeping in the bunk room.

Here is a picture of Papa working on one of his projects.  Re-staining some of the logs on the outside deck.

We dyed Easter eggs together.  The kids all chose their favorite colors.

Of course... Silas chose green.

We followed our Yardley cousin's tradition and rolled the Easter eggs down hills.

Phin was the first one to get a "yolker."

Silas loved checking out the fort that Jeff built on the property...although I think he really loved the green shovel he found.

We also rolled eggs down the big driveway.  Teenie loved chasing the eggs and eating the yolks as they came out.

Jeff and Kim took the kids down to Adam's property and they played in the creek.  These pictures are just the epitome of childhood...

Conrad turned one the day that we arrived at the cabin.  This little guy is just the cutest.

On Sunday the kids got festive.

We had an Easter egg outside...no shoes definitely slowed the kids down on the gravel.

Seth had the brilliant idea of giving the kids a sand bucket to collect their eggs.  It kept their collections fairly even in number. 

On our way home we stopped for a couple of potty breaks...one was to the Chevron in Beaver.

 

We had such a great time at the cabin.  It was so fun to spend time outside and be reunited with cousins.
